Ronald McDonald House Selected

We have selected the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Twin Cities as our charitable organization for the 2008 – 2009 program year.  The following summary describes this organization:

Our Mission:  The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest, is to keep families together and strong while facing the stress of serious pediatric illness or disease. We serve families through our cornerstone program, the Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities—a home-away-from-home for families whose children are being treated for life-threatening conditions, as well as through outreach programs that extend support to families who do not live at the Ronald McDonald House.

A Home-Away-From-Home:

Minneapolis/St. Paul provides a number of the world’s most advanced medical treatment centers for pediatric critical care. Families travel to the Twin Cities from across Minnesota, the United States, and the world for their children to receive highly specialized care at our area hospitals. The Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities accommodates 48 families on any given night, providing lodging and a community atmosphere of care, support and encouragement while reducing the costs of daily living. It is not uncommon for families to live at the Ronald McDonald House for as long as a year. Providing a home-away-from-home for families facing critical pediatric illness is made possible thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors, staff, over 3,300 diligent volunteers, and through contributions of over 4,500 donors.

Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest, also supports and manages outreach programs that extend support beyond our doors to the local community.

Chapter of the Year Award Application Form

Nominate Chapter Award Winners All Year Long

Most of us have a hard time remembering what we did last week let alone what someone in our Chapter did months ago. So instead of asking for Chapter award nominations in the spring like we’ve done in the past, we’d like our members to think about it each month and submit them throughout the year, while it’s still fresh in our minds.

This is especially applicable to the Vendor of the Year award, which is based on what our vendors do for us during the year that would be labeled outstanding service. This isn’t an award about what the vendor has done for the Chapter (the vendors are extremely supportive of our Chapter). This award focuses on what the vendor has done for the members, and a short explanation of what the vendor did to deserve the nomination is required.

Please take a few moments to read through the award definitions, because they changed last year.
